FAQ
-
1. What types of stone benchtops do you offer?
We supply and install a range of high-quality stone benchtops including natural stones like granite and marble, as well as engineered stones such as new gen zero silica mineral stone.
-
2. What’s the difference between natural and engineered stone?
Natural stone (e.g., marble or granite) is quarried directly from the earth, giving it unique veining and color patterns. Engineered stone is made from crushed stone and resin, offering uniform appearance, high durability, and low maintenance.
-
3. Are stone benchtops heat resistant?
Yes, most stone benchtops are heat resistant to a degree. However, we always recommend using trivets or heat pads to prevent thermal shock or damage, and NEVER place a hot pot or pan directly onto the surface.
-
4. Can I cut directly on my stone benchtop?
While stone is very hard, cutting directly on it can damage your knives and potentially leave marks. It’s best to use a chopping board to preserve both your benchtop and your tools.
-
5. Are stone benchtops stain resistant?
Engineered stone is non-porous and highly stain resistant. Natural stone can be more porous, but sealing it regularly will help protect against stains.
-
6. How do I clean and maintain my stone benchtop?
Use a mild detergent and warm water with a soft cloth for daily cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners. For natural stone, periodic sealing is recommended.
-
7. Can stone benchtops be repaired if damaged?
Minor chips or cracks can often be repaired by a professional. For significant damage, we can assess and offer the best restoration solution.
-
8. How long do stone benchtops last?
With proper care, stone benchtops can last a lifetime. They’re one of the most durable and long-term benchtop options available.
-
9. What edge profiles and finishes are available?
We offer a variety of edge profiles (pencil round, aris, bullnose, mitred, shark nose) and finishes (polished, honed, leathered) to suit your style and space.
